Constitution and Bylaws


Article One

Name and Purpose

Section I

The NAME of this association shall be called the Central Arkansas Model Aviators Association (CAMAA). This association shall be chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).

 

Section II

The PURPOSE of this association will to encourage excellence and safety in model aviation. This association will be non-partisan, non-secretarial, non-profit, and will encourage fellowship among its members.


Article Two

Membership

 

Section I

Membership shall not be more than 50 members at any one time. Membership in this association shall not be used for financial enrichment.

 

Field crowding will be reviewed at an annual meeting each September to determine whether to maintain the current limit or decrease the limit with no one being dropped from the roster, but allowing normal attrition to decrease the number of members.

 

Membership into the club shall adhere to the following guidelines:

 

1. In order to be considered for membership the prospective member must complete a questionnaire & application for consideration and return it to one of the Club Officers prior to the next regularly scheduled meeting. The application must include a current AMA Registration number.

 

2. The President shall, at the next regularly scheduled meeting, present the application to the members present for discussion. The President will make a recommendation to vote for acceptance by the members present or the President will make a recommendation to vote for acceptance at the next regularly scheduled meeting with the approval of the members present.

 

3. A two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the members present will validate the application. If the membership level is below the maximum limit and the new applicant(s) have paid current membership fees and dues, the new applicant(s) will be placed on the CAMAA’s Membership Roster as an active member(s) in good standing. If the membership is above the maximum limit, the prospective member(s) will be placed on the waiting list for membership and are not required to paid dues/fees during this time. As soon an opening is available, the prospective member(s) shall be informed of such and upon receipt of current membership fees and dues, the prospective member(s) will be considered an active member(s) in good standing and placed on the CAMAA’s Membership Roster.

 

4. Immediate family described as wife and/or children are not required to pay club dues. Non-paying family members are not included in membership total and cannot vote on club issues.

 

5. Former CAMAA club member(s) who wish to rejoin can do so by paying the club’s yearly dues/fees and show proof of current AMA membership. After verification of active AMA membership and receiving total yearly dues, the former member(s) will be considered an active member(s) in good standing and placed on the CAMAA’s Membership Roster.

 

Section II

Association membership dues may be levied upon approval of a QUORUM, which constitutes a minimum of one officer and four members (see Article Three, Section III).

 

Section III

Officers of the association may elect to drop from the membership role any member who refuses or neglects to pay any indebtedness due to the club within thirty (30) days after a formal demand has been made.

 

Section IV

The expulsion of a member from the club shall require a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote. Any member that is pending exclusion from this association shall be informed of the proceeding in advance, so that they may be present to explain their view as to what lead to the request for expulsion.


Article Three

Meetings

Section I

The association shall hold an annual meeting each September for the election of officers. The place and date of the annual meeting will be determined by the association officers.

 

Section II

Regularly monthly meetings shall be held to negotiate any regular business regarding the association during that month.

 

Section III

Four members and one officer present at any scheduled meeting shall constitute a "QUORUM" for the transaction of any business.


Article Four

Officers and Duties

Section I

The association shall elect the following officers: President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer

 

The DUTIES of the President shall be as presiding officer. As such, he shall supervise the functions of all other officers and committee heads.

 

The DUTIES of the Vice President shall be the presiding officer in case of a vacancy in the office of the President. He shall succeed in that office for the remainder of that term.

 

The DUTIES of the Secretary/Treasurer shall take notes of whatever business comes before the assembly. He shall be responsible for keeping accurate records of income and disbursements.

Section II

The annual election shall be a democratic process allowing nomination and election of all officers by vote. The term in office will be for one year. Members must complete one year as an active member to be eligible to hold office.

Section III

No officer shall receive any salary or fee for serving.

Section IV

Any officer may be removed from the office as a result of failure to fulfill the duties of said office or for conduct detrimental to the best interests of the association. Said removal can only be effected by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members.


Article Five

Use of Flying Field

 

Section I

The association’s flying field is to be used ONLY for the flying of radio controlled aircraft

Section II

There will be no Pylon Racing unless a majority of the association members approve the expenditures necessary to bring the association into compliance with all of the AMA Safety Regulations & Rules.


Article Six

Amendments

Section I

Proposed amendments to these bylaws shall be presented in writing to the President. The proposed amendment is to be read to the membership at the monthly meeting following its presentation to the President. An affirmative two-thirds (2/3) vote by the members present shall be necessary for adoption.
